Hunter and Angelina collect sea shells. Hunter began a holiday with 515 shells and Angelina began with 32 shells.

Each day of the holiday Hunter found 24 shells and Angelina found 47 shells on the beach. By the end of the holidays they had the same number of shells in total.

  • It is interesting that this starter has been enjoyed by pupils of different ages finding the answer in a way that is supported by their current level of mathematical understanding. This problem can be solved in many different ways including using a spreadsheet to generate the two number sequences. Don't forget to rethe page to get a different of numbers.
