• Perhaps this should have been worded as the total of the multiples of 9 up to 10 x 9. The total of the numbers in the 9 times table is actually 640. Try it!

• This starter provides opportunity to discuss place value the sum of consecutive numbers, triangular numbers, pair bonds to 9, pair bonds to 10. Not difficult to solve but provides an interesting starter for further discussion.
