It could be an exercise in rounding (approximation) or the focus could be on performing calculations with large numbers and converting the units the answer is given in to make it more easily understandable. Questions are provided on using percentages, standard form (scientific notation) and fractions. There is the opportunity for pupils to research facts and statistics to answer some of the questions.
