  • You have the same amount of money as your friend. How much should you give your friend so that he/she has got 10p more than you?

  • Let the bulb cost X dollars. Then the lamp will cost X+30. Then put it all into one equation:
    X + X + 30 = 32
    2X = 2
    X = 1
    So the bulb is $1 and the lamp is $31.
